Ibu Sulis adalah satu dari beberapa petani diwilayah desa Kantan Dalam, bersama petani lainnya selama ini tanaman jagung menjadi tanaman pokok diarea lahan kebun warga sebagai tanaman utama masyarakat petani diWilayah ini.
Masa tanam jagung tidak bisa dilakukan secara terus menerus sepanjang tahun namun justru tanah yang belum digunakan menanam jagung dimanfaatkan untuk menanam cabe dan hasilnya bisa membantu memenuhi ekonomi keluarga walau sering muncul kendala hama dalam masa tanam cabe.
Ibu Sulis mengaku bahwa sangat disayangkan tanah kosong miliknya sehingga cabe menjadi alternatif tanaman penopang ekonomi sambil menunggu masa tanam jagung tiba.
Harga cabe dikatakan sulis kini hanya ditingkat harga jual tengkulak 45 ribu dalam satu kilogramnya dan harga tersebut memang lebih murah dari harga yang pernah dialami yakni 75 ribu rupiah.
“ Ini adalah tanaman sementara saja sambil menunggu tnaman jagung musimnya tiba, memang menguntungkan dengan harga 45 ribu saja kami sudah lumayan bisa membantu ekonomi keluarga, banyak hama tapi ini hanya kami lakukan sebisanya,” Ucap Sulis.
Ibu Sulis mengaku bahwa musim saat ini tidak stabil sehingga kendala hama tanaman sering mengakibatkan hasil panen cabe menurun akibat buah cabe banyak yang rusak walau sudah diusahakan mencari obat pembasminya.*.*
